How you can help

Become a "Registered CLP Family" by completing our survey

We encourage all families of people with an intellectual disability to complete our survey. Information provided by families is critical to the work of CLP as it allows us to accurately represent the interests and needs of people with disability and their families to government and the community.

When you complete a survey we will register you as one of the families CLP represents.  We uphold families’ rights to choice and diversity and will represent all family aspirations when speaking to government and service providers.

Data collected by our surveys is treated with the utmost respect and confidentiality.  No information that could identify you or your family member will be provided to another party.  Survey data will be collated and de-identified before any report is written about the specific issues raised by survey items.

Read CLP’s policy on confidentiality of your information here.

The benefits of registering with us are:

  • We have accurate and timely information to represent your issues at both a local and national level.
  • We send you specific information relating to disability issues.
  • We send you regular updates about CLP and invitations to special events.
  • We provide you with access to our reports and those of our supporting groups.

Or subscribe to our mailing list.

Volunteer to help

One in every three Australians is a volunteer (Voluntary Work in Australia, ABS 2002). In 2000, over 36% of the ACT population volunteered, contributing 8.2 million hours of unpaid work to our community.

Volunteers make a significant contribution to community groups such as CLP. However, the benefits to the volunteers themselves include:

  • Personal fulfilment and empowerment
  • Strengthened links with the community, and reduced isolation
  • An opportunity to contribute skills and expertise to others
  • Development of new skills, interests and friendships.

Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds with diverse skills and training.  They are vital to the successful operation of our group. CLP is currently seeking volunteers who can assist: click here.

Make a donation

CLP is committed to improving the lives of people with disability in the ACT region, and their families. However, as CLP was only established in 2009, it currently has no paid staff or any budget to complete its important work. Expenses so far have been met from private donations made by members of the Governing Committee and the Project Group.

If you can make a donation to CLP, the money will be used for office expenses such as postage, printing and internet hosting, coordinating fund-raising events and CLP’s contribution to the “matched funding” necessary to undertake its research in support of the urban village.

Donations can be made by cheque through the post, PayPal or direct debit. Click here to donate.

Leave a legacy

The ACT Community Living Project relies on the support of the community to fund its services and to contribute to current research grants that require matched funding. Remembering us in your Will can provide us with the funds we need to continue our work.

To request further information or to inform CLP of a proposed legacy please contact us.
