How CLP can help you

The Community Living Project is committed to a better deal for families and others in the ACT region caring for a loved-one with an intellectual disability.

Help CLP to help you - do the survey and tell us what you need.

how-clp-can-help-1At CLP we:

  • Do research into the current situation facing parents and families in the ACT caring for a person with an intellectual disability and into best-practice approaches in Australia and elsewhere for meeting their respective needs.
  • Participate in community discussions about the reality of living with an intellectual disability and ways that people in this group can lead meaningful and productive lives.
  • Lobby both the Australian Government and the ACT Government for consideration of the plight of families caring for a person with an intellectual disability. So far, both governments have offered some funding for our research work, subject to matching funding from CLP.
  • Educate the public, through presentations, submissions, reports and publications, about the difficulties faced by people with an intellectual disability (and their families) in leading full and meaningful lives under current living arrangements.
  • Provide news updates about new developments in the community and by governments in caring for people with an intellectual disability – and news about events to benefit this vulnerable group.
