CLP Events

The ACT Community Living Project Inc hosts a series of events during the year; both fund-raising activities and events to help make CLP's message more widely known.

In coming months, CLP plans to host the events indicated below under "Coming Events". However, as a not-for-profit organisation CLP retains the right to cancel events at any time if there is insufficient interest to make them viable.

The Expo and Fair was a great day! It was wonderful to see the wide range of talents on display. Absolutely fantastic!!

Thank you to the army of volunteers, the dancers, santa, the stall holders, the group of young volunteers (especially 7 year old Will Gray who manned the 'Hands and feet" stall all day!), the Lions Club, and to the families of CLP. All of these people contributed their precious time and effort to make the day the sucess it was!!

Thank you to Lyneham High School for the use of their magnificent hall, and to the CLP Board members for their contribution on the day.

A special thank you to Suzi Momi and Alison McGregor - the day would not have been possible without your efforts!

CLP look forward to holding this event again in 2012. See you all there!!

Morning Tea with Minister Joy Burch was a real success. The Minister met quite a number of CLP families and it was also an great opportunity for CLP families to meet and get to know each other a little.

Mark Carmody, our lively MC for the morning, mentioned "his friends at the Community living Project' twice when he delivered his weather segment on ABC TV later that evening. It is encouraging how well known CLP is becoming. Many of Canberra's local businesses supported CLP by donating raffle prizes and offering shopping discounts to those who attended.

Beer for the boys (and some girls) - 28 May 2010

Thanks to everyone who made the Beer for the Boys (and Girls) night at Zierholz Brewery such a memorable occasion. It was a relaxed and enjoyable evening. Guests were taken on a guided tour of this boutique brewery, which was followed by tastings of selected beers, splendid German food and the music of Franklin B Paverty.

Raffles and auctions helped to raise much needed funds for CLP. A dinner for six at Parliament House (with a tour afterwards), was kindly donated by Senator Gary Humphries.

Morning Tea & Mini Expo - 26 July 2010

CLP hosted a very successful Morning Tea and Mini Expo at the CIT Centre at Reid on 26 July 2010. The event showcased the many interests, achievements and activities of people in the ACT with disability along with those of their families and carers. Students from Woden School and Black Mountain School demonstrated the skills learnt in the hospitality course offered at CIT and the BMS campus. Entertainment was provided by the Crash Hot Drum Troupe (students with disability) and the Canberra City Band.

The event also launched the new official website of the ACT Community Living Project Inc.

It was a happy occasion for those in attendance and many were impressed with the achievements and abilities highlighted during the morning. It was a pleasure to have some of our much younger students from Cranleigh and Malkara join us on the day. A further event of this kind is being considered for later in 2010.
